Thank you for attending The Whore From Ohio

Dear Friend,

Thank you for being a part of our Israeli Stage family and for attending our third birthday with The Whore From Ohio this past weekend. What an energizing and thought provoking birthday celebration!

It was wonderful to reconnect with so many familiar faces and to meet new audience members. To both groups – we look forward to seeing you in many of our future productions. Special thanks to all of you who came up and verbally expressed your support of our incredible progress so far and for our bold plans for the future. We expect to have additional good news to communicate shortly as a formal long-term non-profit player in the Boston theater scene. Stay tuned!

By actively attending and participating in our first Hanoch Levin production, you helped us once again produce a strong performance and create a valuable intimate dialogue with a full house at the Goethe Institut.  Using a bare stage, and bearing their impressive dramatic range, the amazing team of actors – Ken Baltin, Sarah Newhouse and Nael Nacer – transported us on a magical journey: Starting with the vulgar and harsh realities of the whore and beggars’ tough daily existence, we were drawn in to share in their poetic desires, moved to identify with their personal fears, and finally we were left naked in our seats contemplating our own individual raw emotions of love, loneliness, family and death.

Deep gratitude to Guy, for his masterful directing and yet another brilliant selection to introduce our wider family to Hanoch Levin’s work in such an appropriate up-and-close setting. Once again, we were all made to realize how diverse Israeli theater is and how deep and universal its themes can be. As Levin himself said in one of his rare interviews – “I just think, the theater… is much more involving when you see these things on the stage. It’s just much more exciting… you see the world, that way, formed on the stage.”

Congratulations and huge thanks to all – actors, directors, audience members, playwrights, producers and supporters – on this wonderful milestone of our Israeli Stage’s third birthday, and we look forward to working with you throughout the current exciting season and for many years to come.

May you and your loved ones be blessed with a wonderful upcoming holiday season,
