Dearest Subscribers and fellow Israeli Stage Family Members,
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for coming to see Anat Gov’s Oh, God.
Many of us come to Israeli Stage productions to listen to voices we know we will not hear anywhere else in our city. Guy Ben-Aharon’s mission of bringing his two homelands together in one room fulfills a desire we all share. In play after play that Guy has produced and directed, people who would otherwise be strangers or names on a page articulate, debate, fight and cry over their differences and similarities.
You contributed so much to this play. Your responses were almost palpable, your relationships with the characters were acutely personal. The actors returned your attentions with a rare kind of energy, and the voice of a remarkable writer who died too soon moved us.
I know many of you will be back. I think we have an informal pact, of sorts, to keep participating in this experiment that Guy has firmly established. I look forward to getting to know you better, and to hearing your voices.
